Food Lion invests 5 million to remodel stores in North Carolina and Virginia

With the help of a $365 million capital investment, Food Lion is now ready to open remodeled stores in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, area and Mecklenburg County, Virginia, the company announced.

The Salisbury, North Carolina-based grocer will hold grand opening ceremonies at 167 stores on August 21.

The modernized stores offer a new, broader range of products and meal solutions that are ready to eat, ready to cook and ready to heat.

The stores will also offer the retailer’s Fresh & Simple brand meals and will introduce self-checkout lanes in almost all stores.

The expanded range of locally grown products now includes 25 to 30 seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Customers also have access to an e-commerce solution in all stores, including the option of self-pickup and home delivery from Food Lion To Go. Online orders can be placed on the Food Lion To Go website or via the app.

Additionally, Food Lion’s remodeled stores feature energy-efficient LED lighting and refrigerated counters with doors to reduce the grocer’s environmental footprint.

During the grand opening, the first 100 customers will receive freebies and a gift card and have a chance to win a grand prize of $1,000 in Food Lion gift cards.
