Former CFO of Entravision takes on similar role at Weather Channel

Most recently, he was Chief Financial Officer at Entravision Communications, the multimedia company with roots in US Hispanic media that has grown its holdings into a global digital advertising solutions company. Now he has a similar role in one of the business units of Allen Media Group.

The Weather Channel welcomes you Christopher Young as CFO. He succeeds the now retired Bill Higgs, and will also serve as EVP of AMG, the parent company of Weather Group led by founder Byron Allen, under AMG EVP/CFO Christopher Malone.

Young will be based at both AMG headquarters in Los Angeles and the Weather Channel’s campus in Atlanta and will report directly to Byron Allen.

Young was with Entravision for 16 years until he left the company in May of this year. General Counsel Mark Boelke assumed his role as Treasurer/CFO, a move that saved the company approximately $600,000 in salary and benefits. Young’s departure was seen as part of a cost-cutting initiative that followed a significant revenue loss related to Meta‘s ASP settlement; this decision impacted more than half of Entravision’s dollar revenue.

Prior to joining Entravision, Young was president of Los Angeles-based outdoor advertising firm VistaMedia, He held this position from 2004 to 2008. From 2000 to 2004, Young was CFO of Vista Media. Prior to that, Mr. Young worked at Bank of Montreal (BMO)where he was responsible for all of the bank’s corporate finance activities for the broadcast and outdoor advertising industries.

Young’s other professional experience includes positions at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and Chase Manhattan Bank.

Byron Allen commented, “We are delighted to have Christopher Young join Allen Media Group. Chris brings extensive financial and operational experience spanning over three decades in the media industry. His extensive expertise and long-standing capital markets background are valuable assets. Chris adds great depth to our leadership team and will be critical to our company as we continue to grow rapidly and execute on a number of long-term strategic initiatives.”

Young added, “I have followed the growth of Allen Media Group for years and am deeply impressed with what Byron and his talented leadership team have accomplished. In short, Allen Media Group’s vision, drive and discipline have consistently outperformed the industry. I look forward to working with the Allen Media Group team to execute on our continued growth and long-term strategies.”
