Due to the weather forecast, Formula 1 has brought forward the start of the São Paulo Grand Prix on Sunday.

The race was postponed from 2:00 p.m. local time to 12:30 p.m. That means it starts at 10:30 a.m. ET instead of 12:00 p.m.

Sunday’s Grand Prix will also be preceded by qualifying at 7:30 a.m. (5:30 a.m. ET). Saturday’s scheduled qualifying was rainy, and rain is forecast throughout Sunday. F1 teams have weatherproof tires, but too much rain can cause puddling and make the track unusable. On Saturday it rained so heavily on the Interlagos circuit that qualifying could not take place.

It is unclear what the starting grid for the race will look like if qualifying cannot take place on Sunday morning.

The sprint race on Saturday took place as planned and was won by Lando Norris ahead of his teammate Oscar Piastri. Piastri led for most of the race before being told to let his teammate pass in front of a virtual safety car for Nico Hulkenberg’s broken down car.

This VSC led to a restart midway through the final lap, with Max Verstappen trying to get past Piastri. Verstappen was a little too scared and exceeded the minimum delta time between him and Piastri before the VSC ended. Verstappen finished third but was demoted to fourth after the race due to a five-second penalty.

This penalty cost Verstappen a point. Norris scored eight points in the sprint to Verstappen’s five and is now 44 points ahead of Verstappen with four Grand Prix races and one sprint remaining this season.
