Freddie Freeman takes the field for his fifth consecutive World Series game as the Dodgers are one win away from the title

Freddie Freeman is officially on fire in this World Series, as another home run led the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-2 Game 3 victory over the New York Yankees on Monday night at Yankee Stadium.

With the win, the Dodgers are one step away from their first World Series title since 2020.

Freeman has now reached yardage in five straight World Series games, dating back to his time with the Atlanta Braves during their 2021 championship. He did it in Game 1 with his incredible grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning, and followed that up with a solo shot in Game 2 that gave him the win.

Freeman wasted no time in Game 3, taking advantage of a missed layup by Yankees starter Clarke Schmidt and planting it in the right field pitches for a two-run blast with two outs to give Los Angeles a 2-0 lead early in that game bring to.

Meanwhile, before a roaring crowd in the Bronx, Dodgers starter Walker Buehler silenced them with five innings of two-hit ball and five strikeouts.

Unfortunately for the Yankees, he failed again in Game 3, going 0-for-3 with another strikeout and a walk.

The Yankees nearly scored early in the fifth inning when Giancarlo Stanton finally got the Yankees into the hit column with a double to left field. Anthony Volpe hit a two-out single to left field, but Stanton, not particularly speedy, was sent home by third base coach Luis Rojas.

Teoscar Hernandez had the perfect throw home as Will Smith never had to move his glove as he caught the ball and applied the tag to end the inning.

At that moment, the crowd that had come back into the game as the Yankees showed their lives at the plate fell silent once again as the Dodgers continued to play exceptional baseball.

Stanton went 2-for-4 on the night, while only Volpe, Anthony Rizzo and Verdugo scored.

Brusdar Graterol, Alex Vesia, Daniel Hudson, Anthony Banda and Ryan Braiser maintained the Dodgers’ scoreless streak until Kopech fumbled against Verdugo.

New York can’t let that happen again as they need to forfeit four games in a row if they want to call themselves world champions.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers will be looking for a win on Tuesday night in the Bronx.
