VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Morgan Frost scored the game-winning goal in the fifth round of the shootout and the Philadelphia Flyers opened their season with a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night.

Tyson Forester and Cam York scored for the Flyers in regulation time, and Samuel Ersson finished with 24 saves.

Teddy Blueger and Nils Hoglander scored for the Canucks, and Kevin Lankinen made 30 saves in his Vancouver debut.

It was the second straight game in which the Canucks lost in overtime after holding a lead early in the third period.

Travis Konecny ​​also scored in the shootout for Philadelphia, and Jake DeBrusk scored for Vancouver.
