“Gas leak” triggers emergency services in Bolton city centre

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to Bolton this morning due to a suspected gas leak. The emergency services were among those who responded after a leak was reported on Corporation Street in a busy part of the town centre.

A section of the street near the Market Place shopping center was cordoned off for over an hour after the alarm was raised at 10:30 a.m., residents reported. Experts from the gas company were called in along with firefighters to investigate the situation.

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said it had worked with the ambulance service and Cadent to “make the area safe”.

“They worked closely with Cadent Gas and the North West Ambulance Service to secure the area before departing after approximately one hour and 10 minutes.”

It has not yet been confirmed whether there was indeed a leak. Cadent has been contacted for further information.
