GloRilla reacts after backlash over use of the “R-word” in an unreleased song

GloRilla sparked a heated debate online after teasing a new song with controversial lyrics.

Earlier this week, the “TGIF” singer shared a snippet of an upcoming song that included the line “Me and my b#### r#######.” The use of the R-word was condemned by many who found the term offensive.

According to Special Olympics, the R-word is a form of hate speech and is often used as a slur, which can be extremely hurtful to people with intellectual disabilities.

Social media users debated whether it was acceptable for GloRilla to use the term. However, the Memphis, Tennessee-born singer quickly responded and changed the lyrics to remove the word. Instead of using the R-word, GloRilla raps, “Me and my b#### go naughty,” a move praised by many of her fans.

“Ohhhh she changed the lyrics just in case it hurts anyone’s feelings,” one person wrote in Glo’s comments section.

“The fact that you replaced the R-word with ‘naughty’ shows you are very mature,” added another. “Heard the criticism, went back to the lab and changed it. Glo to the people.”

However, despite the criticism, some were not convinced that the word needed to be replaced. “Not that you changed the lyrics,” a third person shared. “Shaking head I was ready to say that sh*t with my whole chest lol.”

Meanwhile, GloRilla reunited with her “Wanna Be” remix collaborator and Hot Girl Summer Tour partner Megan Thee Stallion on Sunday night.

“When you finally go on a date with your favorite girl you haven’t seen in a long time,” Meg captioned a video of their meeting. “Lmaoooo Meg why are we like this,” Glo responded in the comments section.
