“Hallelujah!!!” After a fire, the restaurant in Johnson County was closed and finally reopened

After being closed for a year and a half due to a fire, Sheridan’s Unforked in Overland Park is now open to customers again.

The drive-thru at the location at 7337 W. 119th St. opened last week. The dining room will open in the next few weeks while employees are trained, said Courtney Sheridan LeCluyse, marketing manager.

The drive-thru is currently open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In December 2022, an electrical fire damaged the restaurant. Since then, it has been closed for repairs and fans are eagerly awaiting it.

The restaurant announced via social media that it was reopened.

“My daughter asks me every day if you are open yet,” wrote one user. “Today is her birthday and I’m going to tell her we can get her favorite things today!!”

“Hallelujah!!!” wrote another.

Favorites on the menu include the Barking Pig Taco (crispy carnitas in a shagbark bacon glaze with scallions and queso fresco) and its Fudge Brownie Pothole Concretes.

Founder Jim Sheridan opened Sheridan’s Frozen Custard 26 years ago. Today, the custard chain has locations in Crown Center and in Northland at 6248 NW Barry Road.

In 2011, Sheridan opened Unforked in Overland Park after touring fast-casual restaurants across the country.

Unforked also has locations in Crown Center and in Westwood at 4719 Rainbow Blvd.
