Hammer and Rails fans react to results – Notre Dame Week

Purdue fans had this week to answer our two poll questions about this weekend’s Notre Dame game, and the results are now in. First, I asked you all if Purdue would walk away with a win over the Fighting Irish.

Somehow, a majority of Purdue fans who took this poll said Purdue would pull off the upset. I understand that feeling because on the last episode of the podcast I almost convinced myself Purdue would pull off the upset. I think if we had seen one more Purdue game, I would have had enough to hope for the upset. For now, though, I’m hoping 53% of you are right.

Next, I asked which unit has the most to prove on defense.

Less surprising than question one was the fact that the defensive line came in first here. I expected that, since the linebackers came in second. There’s a lot of work to be done on defense, and given Notre Dame’s inability to throw the ball, this will give both of those units a big opportunity on Saturday.

And although you didn’t vote on this question, there were also questions answered on the Notre Dame website. Here are the results that I think you might be interested in.

Only 25% of Notre Dame fans expressed a lot of confidence before the Purdue game. That surprised me a lot. I don’t know how you characterize “mediocre,” but that’s not what you want to hear about Notre Dame. The situation there is dire.

In just over 24 hours, we will know who was right on all these points.
