Harris uses familiar face as Trump representative in debate preparation

Vice President Kamala Harris will rely on the same adviser as Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential campaign: Philippe Reines, to prepare for her debate against former President Donald Trump.

Harris is preparing for her ABC debate against Trump on Sept. 10 at her alma mater, Howard University. She participated in a mock debate earlier this week.

Reines allegedly treats the role of Trump like that of a “method actor,” ^ “New York Times: The New York Times”.

He wears tights to appear taller and straps on knee pads to keep his legs straight. He also ordered a custom-made, oversized suit. One person reportedly saw Reines dressed as Trump on Monday, wigless but with a long tie. Reines compared Trump’s presence on stage to a “defective appliance.”

Trump has hired former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard from Hawaii as a Harris impersonator because she had already participated in debates with the vice president during the 2020 Democratic primaries.

Harris will reportedly try to draw a contrast with Trump while making clear what she wants to say on the issues. She will introduce herself to voters unfamiliar with her record and try to convey her views on everything from immigration to inflation.

Harris hopes to emerge from her first debate with Trump with a better rapport with the public than President Joe Biden, who withdrew from the presidential race less than a month after his dismal performance.
