Heat warnings are still in effect on Wednesday, and it is expected to remain hot all week

LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana (KPLC) – High humidity and sunshine are making it hot in SWLA, and it’s not expected to let up anytime soon.

It will continue to get hotter on Wednesday, with even less chance of rain in our area. One or two isolated thunderstorms is the only thing we can expect, and it’s unlikely that this will really help cool things down. Mostly it will be a warm and humid day, with highs between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius and a heat index between 42 and 45 degrees Celsius.

Heat warnings are in effect again today, so take precautions in hot weather: drink plenty of fluids, limit outdoor activities to early morning or late evening if possible, and take frequent breaks when working outside. Lighter clothing can also be helpful when the sun is shining.

High pressure will prevail aloft for the rest of the week, meaning rain is fairly unlikely. However, the chance of rain remains at 20% in the event that an isolated shower or storm develops during the afternoon hours.

The long-term forecast shows that this hot and predominantly dry weather will hardly change until at least the middle of next week. This means that the coming weekend will be hot and dry…

The tropics remain very close to SWLA and there is no danger of anything developing in our area! We are monitoring Tropical Storm Ernesto near Puerto Rico. The forecast shows Ernesto drifting north over the Atlantic and staying well east of Florida and the rest of the United States, so it obviously poses NO threat to SWLA.
