Heavy police presence at Joppatowne High School after gun fight

BALTIMORE – A heavy police presence was seen outside Joppatowne High School Friday afternoon after an apparent fight broke out at the school.

In a statement, Harford County Public Schools said, among other things: “The Harford County Sheriff’s Office was called to the school today regarding an isolated incident on campus. A fight occurred on campus between known parties. A weapon was brought onto campus and used in the incident. The HCSO and HCPS are working together to get this information to you.”

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed “an incident” at the school shortly before 1 p.m.

The WJZ teams present on site reported a massive police presence, including several ambulances and a helicopter.

Those who confirmed they were called to the school include police, volunteer firefighters and Harford County EMS.
