Paisley, Will Bundy, Rodney Clawson, Chris Dubois and Hunter Phelps wrote the lyrics to “Truck Still Works.” It is expected to be on his next album, but few details are known about that project. Luke Wooten helped Paisley with the production.

“Truck Still Works” is expected to be available on all digital streaming platforms on Friday (September 27th). Paisley has acknowledged that the song represents a return to music from his past, but also a gentle sonic foray.

His return to the awards show stage came on a night also attended by Machine Gun Kelly, Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert.

Here are the lyrics to Brad Paisley, “Truck Still Works”:

I didn’t know she was back in town / It felt like forever ago / She said it was nice to be home / But you know what would make it better.

You still got that short-bed Chevy, we’ve gone miles down the memory lane / I’m sure you sold that thing, I smiled and said you’re wrong / It’s in the barn in the back and when I crank that thing up get / How I’m going to take a little test drive at the lake.

Choir:
Let’s see if the truck still works, let’s see if the song still sings / Let’s see if the miles of corn fields are still that shade of green / Let’s see if we can find the place I used to know about / Let’s see if They paved it old dirt road that used to run out / Find out if the dogwood branch is still there to hang our shirts / If you have nothing else to do tonight, let’s see if the truck still works.

We can roll down the windows, I bet I have two or three left/ Hair ties on the gear lever and a ball cap behind the seat / If you miss those old times, the sun sets around nine o’clock. And I have a four-wheel drive time machine.

Repeat chorus

‘Cause it’s a good night to enjoy the moonlight / And with any luck we might get stuck again.

Repeat chorus
