Hezbollah drone strike kills four Israeli soldiers: “We are at war”

Four Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers – all 19 years old – were killed and dozens more injured in a Hezbollah attack on Sunday evening, according to the Israeli military.

Two Hezbollah drones were pursued by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) on Sunday evening – one of which was shot down off the coast near Haifa. According to multiple Israeli media reports, the military lost track of the second drone, which is believed to have crashed or been intercepted after being dropped by IAF radar.

According to Israeli media reports, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi said on Monday at the hit base: “We are at war, and an attack on a training base in the background is difficult and that.” The results are painful. “

IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a statement reported by multiple media sources that the drone did not sound warning sirens in Israel and the circumstances of the incident were still under investigation.

“The IDF has full operational control of the incident,” Hagari said. “We will study how a UAV can break through and hit a base without warning.” He added that Israel has faced the threat of UAVs “since the beginning of the war.”

“We have an obligation to provide better protection,” he said. “We will investigate this incident, learn from it and improve.”

In Gaza on Sunday night, it was reported that four people were killed and 20 injured when a tent was hit by an Israeli military airstrike. Earlier on Sunday, at least 20 people, including children, were killed when a school was attacked in Nuseirat, central Gaza.

Just over a year after Hamas launched the deadliest Palestinian militant attack in Israel’s history, killing 1,200 people and taking around 250 hostages, nearly 100 remain captive and fewer than 70 are believed to be alive.

According to the Gaza Strip Health Ministry, the subsequent Israeli military offensive in Gaza killed 42,000 Palestinians. Although authorities do not distinguish between civilians and fighters, many women and children are among the dead.

Hezbollah has also joined the fight, firing rockets and drones from Lebanon in solidarity with Hamas in a conflict that has left over 1,400 Lebanese dead and displaced hundreds of thousands, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Hezbollah retaliates against Israeli naval base near Haifa

The United Kingdom Daily Telegraph reported that Hezbollah fired a “barrel of rockets” at an Israeli naval base near Haifa on Monday, claiming the attack was in the service of its late leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike last month.

Although Hezbollah’s claim has not been fully confirmed, the Israeli military reported that around ten rockets were fired from Lebanon towards Haifa. Most were intercepted, but some landed in open areas without causing any damage.

Israeli cabinet member calls UNIFIL a “useless force” amid escalating tensions.

Israeli Cabinet member Eli Cohen called the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) a “useless force” and criticized its failure to enforce UN Resolution 1701, passed after the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah. Cohen’s comments come against the backdrop of the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, with UNIFIL under scrutiny for its inability to prevent Hezbollah’s military buildup in southern Lebanon. Resolution 1701 called for a demilitarized zone and the disarmament of Hezbollah, but this has not yet been fully enforced.
