Trump will only be that second president to serve non-consecutive terms according to Grover Cleveland, a feat last achieved 132 years ago. Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and 24th President of the United States, serving from 1885 to 1889 and from 1893 to 1897. Trump’s first term as US President lasted from 2016 to 2020. However, he failed to win a second consecutive term after losing to Joe Biden lost in the 2020 election campaign.

At 78, he would be the oldest person in US history be elected president. Joe Biden, who turns 82 on November 20, is the oldest sitting president.

Furthermore, Trump is expected to become the first Republican to win the popular vote in 20 yearssaid the New York Times.

Twice impeached president

If he wins the race for the White House, Trump will become president only president in US history to face impeachment twice during his term of office. However, he was acquitted by the Senate on all counts in both cases.

The first impeachment came in 2019 over allegations that Trump secretly sought help from Ukraine to boost his re-election chances. It has been alleged that Trump asked his Ukrainian counterpart Zelensky to investigate one of the leading candidates running against him in the 2020 presidential election. It was reported that Trump had frozen $400 million in military aid to Ukraine, which is embroiled in a war with Russia.

Trump was impeached for the second time on January 13, 2021, a week before his term expired, for allegedly inciting the attack on the US Capitol on January 6.

First convicted felon to take office

Trump, who was convicted of 34 felonies earlier this year, will also be the one first US president to hold office while facing legal charges. Trump was convicted in New York in May, but the verdict is pending and a trial is scheduled for November 26.

Trump is accused of falsifying business records related to hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election. However, Trump has denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.
