How Agatha is connected to Wandavision and Doctor Strange all along

How Agatha is connected to Wandavision and Doctor Strange all along

IIt has been over three years since WandaVision debuted as the first Marvel Cinematic Universe show on Disney+. And while you probably haven’t forgotten the song “Agatha All Along” that went viral during the pandemic, you may not remember the exact details of who Agatha is, what her powers were, and how witchcraft worked in this show.

Agatha all the timethe scary spinoff series of WandaVision Creator Jac Schaeffer, revolves around the antagonist Agatha, a dark witch who carried a book called the Darkhold and tried to steal the powers of Avenger Wanda Maximoff. At the end of WandaVisionWanda cast a spell on Agatha, leaving her trapped in a delusion.

In the years that followed, Wanda took a more villainous turn and embarked on her own fateful adventures in the film to reunite with her family. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Agatha probably worked for years in the town of Westview, where Wanda left her.

In the new Disney+ series, which premieres on September 18, Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) breaks free from Wanda’s (Elizabeth Olsen) spell and gathers her own coven to regain her powers. Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn and none other than Patti LuPone play the witches who join forces with Agatha to follow a path called the Witch’s Way.

Here’s everything you need to remember from WandaVision before watching Agatha all the time.

Wanda Maximoff captures Agatha with a spell

In WandaVisionAvenger Wanda Maximoff visits Westview, New Jersey, where her late lover Vision planned to build the couple a house and settle down. Driven by a wave of immense grief, Wanda places a curse on the entire town and controls the minds of all the residents. This allows her to revive Vision and give birth to her (imaginary) twin sons. The four of them live their pristine suburban lives in a sitcom-inspired reality. (Each episode is a different famous family sitcom.)

Towards the end of the show, Wanda discovers that her nosy neighbor Agatha is a witch herself, who had infiltrated Wanda’s imagination to steal Wanda’s power. Agatha reveals that Wanda was actually the Scarlet Witch, a fabled magician mentioned in the Darkhold, a book of grimoires.

Agatha, who can steal the powers of other witches when she is bombarded with them, attempts to take Wanda’s sons hostage. Wanda defeats Agatha and punishes the dark witch by trapping her in her own mind.

When Vision begs Wanda to release the people of Westview, she agrees, killing her (imaginary) husband and children in the process. She leaves town but takes the Darkhold with her to study magic.

Agatha, meanwhile, stays in Westview and plays various television plots there. We find her there at the beginning of Agatha all the time.

The Darkhold is basically a very powerful book of dark magic. Agatha owns it in WandaVisionand Wanda takes it from her. The book of evil spells then becomes the MacGuffin in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

In Multiverse of MadnessWanda, desperate to be reunited with her sons, attempts to capture a superhero named America Chavez, believing she can use America’s multiverse-spanning powers to summon her sons from a parallel timeline.

America Chavez is under the protection of Doctor Strange. When the sorcerer refuses to give up the young girl, Wanda uses the Darkhold to “dream walk,” or inhabit another version of herself in a parallel universe, and chase Doctor Strange and America throughout the multiverse.

But in the film, a sorceress sacrifices herself to destroy the Darkhold and prevent Wanda from dreamwalking. Wanda travels to a mountain that is the source of the Darkhold’s power to restore her abilities.

To stop Wanda, Doctor Strange acquires the Book of Vishanti, the counterpart to the Darkhold, but Wanda destroys this book. Doctor Strange then acquires a Darkhold from a parallel universe in order to dreamwalk himself and fight Wanda.

Wanda finally realizes her mistake when her sons from the parallel universe fear her instead of embracing her. When Wanda realizes that she has turned into a monster, she throws a mountain on herself, destroying all the Darkholds in all universes. Wanda’s death undoubtedly impacts the curse she placed on Agatha and serves as the inciting event of the series.

The Salem Seven are supervillains from the Marvel comics

Seven masked figures appear in the Agatha all the time Trailers and fans are speculating that these mysterious characters are the Salem Seven. These villains could be the main antagonists of the series, although it’s unclear how closely the show will stick to the source material.

In the comics, Agatha has a satanic son named Nicholas Scratch. He in turn has seven children, the Salem Seven. The Salem Seven fight against both Agatha and the Fantastic Four.

But the Salem Seven may get a different origin story in Agatha all the time. In WandaVision We saw that Agatha was put on trial in Salem by other witches for practicing dark witchcraft that was above her station. Agatha managed to kill all the witches who wanted to punish her, including her mother. Since the trial took place in Salem, it stands to reason that the Salem Seven in the series could be somehow related to these witches that Agatha betrayed and murdered.
