The WNBA clash on Friday in Indianapolis will be about stopping two unstoppable forces in Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier. It could be a taster of the first round of the postseason.

Clark and the Indiana Fever (18-16) will face the Minnesota Lynx (24-9) on Friday night in Indy. The Fever are in the midst of a brilliant five-game winning streak and have won nine of their last 11 games to transform their season.

Clark, a favorite for Rookie of the Year honors, recorded her second career triple-double on Wednesday to help her team beat the Los Angeles Sparks 93-86. Clark already became the first WNBA rookie in history to record a triple-double when she recorded her first triple-double in July, but she now joins Alyssa Thomas, Courtney Williams, Sabrina Ionescu and Candace Parker as just the fifth WNBA player to record multiple triple-doubles in a season. Clark also hit four of 10 three-pointers, setting the WNBA record for fastest player to make 100 three-pointers in a season.

The Lynx also come into Friday’s game with a will to win. They have won eight of their last nine games, including a narrow victory over the Chicago Sky on September 1. The Lynx’s only blemish during this stretch was a surprise loss to the Dallas Wings on August 30.

The last time these two teams met on Aug. 24, the Lynx handed the Fever their last loss, fueled by Collier’s dominant 31-point performance. With both teams at their best, Friday’s outcome could come down to which side can better contain the star power of Clark or Collier on the court.

Both teams have already secured playoff spots: Minnesota is currently in 3rd place and Indiana is in 6th place. If the bottom of the table remains unchanged, the Fever and Lynx will face each other in the first round of the playoffs in a best-of-three format. For Indiana, this would be the first postseason playoff appearance since 2016.
