MATCHUP

The Broncos will host the Chargers in Week 6, marking the team’s second straight divisional game of the 2024 season. Denver has beaten Los Angeles in the last three meetings between the two teams and will look to improve on that record on Sunday. The Broncos will also look to extend their three-game winning streak in front of their home crowd before traveling to “Thursday Night Football” in Week 7.

The Week 6 matchup will bring together two of the top-ranked defenses in 2024, as the Chargers have allowed the fewest points per game (12.5), while the Broncos are tied for the second-fewest points allowed (14.6). Defensive end Zach Allenwho has the second-most quarterback hits in the NFL (12), and outside linebacker Jonathan Cooperwho leads the Broncos in sacks (4), will try to disrupt quarterback Justin Herbert on Sunday.

Denver’s secondary should also look to make an impact through the play of its cornerbacks Pat Surtain II And Riley Moss. Surtain recorded two interceptions, including a pick six, in Week 5 and was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Moss also had a strong performance against the Raiders, recording the first interception of his NFL career. The cornerback duo could look to make more big plays in Week 6.

Offensively, Denver will look to continue building positive momentum this week. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix posted his strongest performance of the season to date, setting career highs in completion percentage (70.4%), passing touchdowns (2) and passer rating (117.2) against the Raiders. Nix could try to run back Javonte Williamswho led the team in both rushing and receiving yards in Week 5, made crucial plays. Nix could also aim to distribute the ball to the wide receiver Courtland Sutton, who leads the team in receiving yards this season.
