Iceland vs Wales LIVE: Nations League results and updates as Johnson and Wilson open up a comfortable lead

(AP)

Icelandic football hosts Welsh football in the Nations League this evening in a crucial Group B4 game. Craig Bellamy’s side are currently in second place in the table but are just one point ahead of tonight’s opponents as they look to qualify for promotion to the aforementioned league.

Wales have enjoyed a strong resurgence under Craig Bellamy, who has introduced a more attacking style of play and given players the freedom to move up the pitch. Bellamy’s first game ended with an impressive draw against Turkey, followed by a very good performance and a 2-1 away win against Montenegro.

The former Wales captain took over from Rob Page as manager in July and securing promotion to the top flight of the Nations League would be an instant success.

However, Iceland is no pushover. Earlier this year they beat England at Wembley and challenged Turkey before losing 3-1 in their last game. The Welsh team will face freezing temperatures in Reykjavik and Iceland will be more used to the drastic conditions.
