Voter Security

Federal officials are on the lookout for all kinds of threats on Election Day.

FBI Honolulu has established an “Election Command Post” to monitor and respond to all election-related threats leading up to and following the election.

“The purpose of the command post is to ensure that the FBI is well positioned to respond to incoming threats or incoming information that could compromise our election security,” said James Barnacle, deputy assistant director of the FBI’s Criminal Division. “These threats include criminal threats such as threats against election workers, cyber threats involving malicious foreign influence, and domestic violence.”

The office will be open 24 hours a day this week once the results are available. It is done in coordination with state, local and federal authorities.

It is an attempt to ensure election security as voters go to the polls.

You are urged to contact FBI officials in Honolulu directly to report allegations of voter fraud or other election abuse. Just call (808)566-4300.

The time when the first polls close in Hawaii is at 1:00 p.m. Hawaii time and the last ones close at 8:00 p.m

Critical swing states for the presidential race will be at 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. HST.
