The colorful, cubic world of Minecraft comes to life.

The first teaser trailer for A Minecraft Movie, the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular film, has been revealed. The film stars Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks and Jack Black.

In the trailer, Momoa – wearing a really wild shoulder-length wig with shaggy bangs – enters the pixelated Minecraft world along with Brooks, “Wednesday” star Emma Myers and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.

As they embark on a magical adventure, they encounter several Minecraft characters such as yucky goons, evil piglins, and a random guy named Steve (Black).

“Anything you dream of doing here, you can do,” Black says in the clip as the Beatles’ “The Magical Mystery Tour” blares in the background.

Momoa’s character Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison and his three equally nonconformist friends “struggle with everyday problems when they are suddenly drawn through a mysterious portal into the upper world: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on fantasy,” says an official synopsis for the film.

To get home, their adventure will require them to “be brave and reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative… the very skills they need to succeed in the real world again.”

“A Minecraft Movie,” from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is directed by Jared Hess, whose previous credits include “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Masterminds,” and is the first-ever live-action adaptation of the popular video game, which premiered in 2011. (Warner Bros. Pictures, like CNN, is part of Warner Bros. Discovery.)

The video game Minecraft allows users to explore and design unique worlds, building anything they want using virtual three-dimensional blocks.

“A Minecraft Movie” will premiere in theaters on April 4, 2025.
