Jennifer Affleck leaves MomTok after discussing future with husband Zac

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Is Jennifer Affleck’s time at MomTok really over?

In the The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Finale: Jennifer calls her fellow actress Jessi Ngatikaura to make a shocking revelation.

“Jen called me and said, ‘I just wanted to tell you my side of things and what happened,'” Jessi tells Demi Engemann.

“Jen told me she was leaving MomTok because of Zac,” Jessi says.

“He doesn’t want her to be associated with us. I’m really sad that this is just an ongoing pattern that’s not getting better.”

Jessi expresses her fear that Zac has given Jennifer an ultimatum. The scene then shows the couple exploring New York City, where he has been accepted into medical school.

At the beginning of the episode, the couple discussed the possibility of moving, and Jennifer advocated taking a year off before going to school for the next ten years.

“We also just found out that Zac got accepted into medical school in New York, one of his absolute dream schools. Medical schools are very hard on marriages, so I’m wondering if medical school is worth it,” she says in a confessional.

Zac is reluctant to wait a year, to which Jennifer replies, “I think if we avoid all of our problems and just move on, I honestly don’t know if our marriage would last. Do you have hope for the future?”

“I know part of you thinks we should be in New York. But I just don’t know if that makes sense. It’s keeping me from business opportunities with MomTok,” she tells her husband.

In a confessional, she continues, “It’s difficult because I’m the breadwinner. When we go to medical school and go through these difficult things in life, we have to be on the same page, especially if we end up moving to New York, where I wouldn’t even have the MomTok group.”

Despite her legitimate concerns, Zac says, “I don’t really care.”

“I think the reason I find it so hard to share my feelings with Zac is because I feel like his first reaction is to fight or voice his opinion rather than support or acknowledge me,” she explains in her confession.

“The most important thing in this life for me is my relationship with God and my family, but if things don’t get better, he knows I won’t stay with him if I continue to be treated like this.”

“I really think you’re going to love New York. I’m really excited. I just hope you feel good about it too,” Zac says to a heavily bundled up Jen.

“Do you think I’ll miss anything at home with MomTok?” she asks.

“They’re not that significant. They’re just… I don’t think you’re going to miss anything. Honestly,” he replies.

Jen thinks for a moment and then adds, “I don’t think you’ve ever been your happiest and best version of yourself. I think this would help you.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is currently streaming on Hulu.
