Knicks fans, NBA world stunned by shock trade between Karl and Anthony Towns

The Knicks became the true center of the basketball world on Friday night.

In a stunning move, the team acquired Karl-Anthony Towns from the Timberwolves and sent Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and a first-round draft pick to Minnesota via Detroit.

Unsurprisingly, Knicks fans on social media had a lot to say about the surprising news.

Some were saddened by the departure of the Villanova Knicks, which includes DiVincenzo, Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges.

“We haven’t even seen a minute of the Nova Knicks,” Fan wrote on X with a sad GIF from the show “The Boys.”

“I’m devastated,” Knick’s muse wrote.

“THE KNICKS DID SOMETHING,” wrote author Shea Serrano.

Ryen Rusillo, podcast host at The Ringer, praised the Knicks for their move.

“Talent in vs talent out, it’s a win for NY,” he wrote. “I’m not the biggest KAT fan, but he’s a better fit with his spacing and embracing his role of keeping things open for Brunson than the ball stopping we may have seen with Randle.” KAT has a better health record and fills a need when they play him at the 5.”

However, one NBA fan seemed to think the Knicks were on the losing side of the deal.

“The Knicks just got fleeced,” they wrote on X.

John Jastremski, a New York sports personality on SNY and The Ringer, had mixed feelings about the deal but found it positive overall.

“Holy shit,” he wrote. This trade blew me away…Towns over Randle is very preferable. I hate to lose Donte, but how can you not trust this regime after the last few years?”

It’s been a busy offseason with many moves for the Knicks, with key players now departing in Randle, DiVincenzo (Minnesota) and Isaiah Hartenstein (Oklahoma City).

But the additions of Bridges from the Nets and Towns from Minnesota have added some talent to a team that was one win away from the Eastern Conference finals last season.
