Kristen Bell explains why she came out of retirement

Kristen Bell joked that she came out of “retirement” because she wanted to “get out of the house a little more often.”

In recent years Good place star has retired from acting while staying at home with her two daughters, whom she has with husband Dax Shepard. Now she is returning to the spotlight with the new TV series Nobody wants that.

The actress said she felt like she was “losing” herself a little and couldn’t wait to feel the “electricity” of performing again.

“The desire to be creative and get out of the house a little more often because I’ve been kind of a full-time mom for the last few years,” she said. “And while I’ve enjoyed that, I feel like I got a good foundation here, and I felt like I was getting a little lost in it.”

Bell and Shepard married in 2013 and their daughters are Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9.

Shepard said on the podcast that while Bell hasn’t been acting, she hasn’t retired either, as she has worked in various roles on other projects, including as a producer. Bell said acting was the reason she returned to the screen.

“I really wanted to get back into performing,” the star said. “And when I stopped a few years ago, I was so sick of it. I was sick of the hair and makeup. I was sick of the front-line kind of thing. I thought, ‘I just want to be creative behind the scenes.'”

“And then I realized, ‘Wait, I want to do it again. I want to feel that kind of electricity again, that kind of chance and risk.'” Newsweek has emailed a Bell representative for comment.

Bell said she had options, but she was drawn to her new series, which follows agnostic Joanne (Bell) and her relationship with unconventional Rabbi Noah (Brody). “When I read this script, I just thought I’d never read anything like it,” she said.

“And I liked the idea of ​​seeing people who shouldn’t be together for what seem like very real reasons, but if you can make the chemistry strong enough, it’s very appealing to watch. I just thought the engine was great and thought if I could get Adam to do it, that would be even better.”

Nobody wants that The premiere on Netflix is ​​scheduled for September 26th.
