La Crosse’s new airport director reads for Trump and what cyclists need in the city

Two guests at the La Crosse Talk PM on Tuesday. They include Jeff Tripp, the new director of the La Crosse airport, who is preparing for Donald Trump’s visit on Thursday, and Robbie Young of the Bike-Ped committee, who is working on improving the city for cyclists.

La Crosse Talk PM airs weekdays at 5:06 p.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM/1410 AM/106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.

Tripp was the first to arrive (2:00) and we learned about his duties as director of the La Crosse Regional Airport and what he is going through as the Secret Service prepares the area for Trump’s town hall meeting at the La Crosse Center.

Afterward (6:00 p.m.), Robbie Young, a member of the city’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board and owner of Coulee Bicycle Co. in Onalaska, talks a bit about how e-bikes are changing. We also discuss the difficulties cyclists have getting from one end of town to the other and some of the Wisconsin DOT’s plans for Third and Fourth Streets downtown that include protected bike lanes.

The show began with a small update on the Trump town hall meeting, where the doors will now open at 2 p.m. We also learned who the moderator will be.
