LC Mustangs win at home against Falcons; Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lose to Minford in season opener

Saturday afternoon marked the start of the 2024 football season for Lynchburg-Clay as the boys soccer team took the field with a non-league win over Minford, while the Lady Mustangs lost their opening game of the season to the Lady Falcons.

Four Lynchburg-Clay players scored in the non-league home win over Minford. The goals came from Josiah Burns, Austin Bell, Noah Bitzer and Elam Faust.

Burns and Braedon West were each credited with an assist in LCHS’ comeback win.

The goal for the Mustangs was scored by Isaac Eyre, who saved three shots.

The LCHS boys are now 1-0 overall.

LCHS’s next appearance is scheduled for Monday, August 19, in a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game against the Whiteoak Wildcats, with kickoff at 4:30 p.m.

In the girls game, LCHS lost to Minford 2-1.

The only goal for Lynchburg-Clay was scored by Miranda Smith without an assist.

Minford’s goals were scored by Sadie Tieman (unassisted), who equalized the score at 1-1 in the first half. The decisive goal was scored by Lexi Conkel, assisted by Tieman.

Minford’s Addison Lemon made three saves and LC goalkeeper Allie Waits finished with five saves.

The defeat leaves LCHS with a 0-1 score.

The Lady Mustangs played again on the road against the Hillsboro Lady Indians at HHS in a non-league game on Monday, August 19th.
