Losing streak rises to seven after defeat to Cleveland

Baseball’s bad week continued Tuesday night as Cleveland crushed the Royals 7-1, extending their losing streak to seven games with 22 games remaining.

The offense remained quiet for most of the five innings against Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee. On the other hand, Brady Singer himself wasn’t too bad. Despite a bases-loaded situation in the second inning that led to Cleveland’s first run, Singer was pretty good. In total, he threw 5 23 innings and allowed only two runs.

In the sixth inning, the Royals had a chance to forget all the pain of the last six games. With the bases loaded and no outs, Salvador Perez came to bat. However, Kansas City only managed one run on a sacrifice fly by Paul DeJong.

In the following inning, the baseball gods punished the Royals when Brayan Rocchio hit a two-run shot to make it 4-1.

Thanks to soft contact from Lucas Erceg and James McArthur, the Guardians pulled away in the eighth, scoring three more runs to extend their lead to 7-1, more than enough to silence Kansas City for the final two frames.

The Royals, 75-65, hold their playoff spot by 4.5 games. They will look to avoid another sweep and an eighth straight loss tomorrow night. Seth Lugo takes on Ben Lively. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. CT.
