Machine Gun Kelly changed perspective to get sober

Machine Gun Kelly changed his perspective on life to get sober.
The 34-year-old star – real name Colson Baker – revealed in August that he had not taken drugs or drank alcohol in a year, explaining he needed to “zoom out” and focus on “generational curses.” that he had to deal with it in order to get clean.
He told People magazine: “I had to zoom out and look at myself from a holistic perspective.”
“I was born on the 22nd. Twenty-two is a master number. What am I supposed to master here? I had to ask myself that question.”
“What were my intergenerational curses and problems that were passed down to me and my father? Rest in peace.”
The “Emo Girl” hitmaker, who has 13-year-old daughter Casie with former partner Emma Cannon and is dating Megan Fox, found clarity when he understood that his “job is to be a good man.”
He added: “I find comfort in knowing that I can punish myself today so I can forgive myself tomorrow.”
“I have a daughter who I love with all my heart and would die for. And I have a beautiful family and a beautiful circle of friends and a beautiful life to live for. And I’m no longer in the despair of not realizing it.”
The “Lonely Road” singer previously stated that he entered rehab after his European tour in 2023, but kept this a secret at the time.
He said on the Dumb Blonde podcast: “I haven’t told anyone except the people closest to me.”
“That was the first time I went to rehab. They just gave me so many opportunities to use the body and show where that anger comes from and methods to suppress it.”
MGK later admitted that his journey to sobriety was a “constant tightrope walk.”
He said: “I met with many psychiatrists, some gave up on me and many therapists did the same.”
“But in the end I realized what my condition was and I came to terms with it. It’s a constant balancing act.”
