Maine Food & Dining News: Rockland, Stockholm, Bath, Veazie, Poland

There are new developments in food and dining happening all over Maine. Here are some recent updates to keep you informed:

  • 13 Oak (website, Instagram) has opened. The 36-seat Rockland restaurant was opened by the team at Fresh & Co. in Camden. It is located at 13 Oak Street (pictured above) in the building that long housed Cafe Miranda. The menu features wood-fired dishes like a 14-ounce porterhouse pork chop and roasted eggplant with lentils and red sauce. 13 Oak will initially be open Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cafe Miranda owner Kerry Altiero closed the cafe in 2022 after running the restaurant for 29 years.
  • The Time record reports that a German bakery and restaurant called The Pelzer (Website, Facebook, Instagram) has recently opened in Bath. It is located at 79-99 Commercial Street and is open daily from 9am-5pm (until 10am on Sundays). The full menu can be found on the website.
  • Inside hook has published an article about the expanding oyster farming industry in Maine.
  • The Bangor Daily News reports that an Ecuadorian restaurant is the latest establishment to open in the Korean Dad incubation space in Veazie. Galindo’s authentic Ecuadorian cuisine (Facebook) is open Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and serves a menu that includes seco de pollo, ceviche, and carne con menestra.
  • The Lewiston Sun Journal has an editorial about Sea Bagel (pre-order, Instagram), a relatively new bagel maker that bakes at Poland Provisions and has pop-ups on weekends at Lakeside Dairy Bar in Naples.
  • Maine Public broadcast a report on the government bond market in Stockholm.
