Major construction work begins at Perth Airport
Perth Airport has committed to investing more than $5 billion in new infrastructure projects, and major construction work has already begun on new buildings, including an expanded international terminal.

Perth Airport is committed to investing more than $5 billion in new infrastructure projects designed to create capacity for Western Australia’s growing aviation sector and passenger base. In the 2024 financial year, Perth Airport recorded more than 16 million passengers for the first time, with 156,756 aircraft movements taking place during the same period.

“This is great news for the tourism, resources and export industries – but it means we need to start building new infrastructure now to support that growth,” said Perth Airport CEO Jason Waters. “The project list includes two car parks, a new terminal, an expanded international terminal, our first airport hotel and a new runway. This is a truly transformational time for Perth Airport but as we know this level of work will cause some inconvenience to passengers during the construction period. Our aim is to ensure all future infrastructure is seamlessly integrated into current airport operations. This means passengers will see a number of projects at the airport and in most cases either in the terminal or outside its front door. One of the first major projects to commence is our first car park.”
