Major highways and roads in Charlotte will be impacted for hours during Harris’ visit: What to expect

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Several highways and some local roads will be closed for hours on Thursday, September 12th, to Visit of Vice President Kamala Harris to Charlotte.

Harris will stop in the Queen City for a campaign rally at around 4:30 p.m., so significant delays are expected on Interstate 77 and East Independence Boulevard between Interstate 277/Eastway Drive starting at 2 p.m.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg policeThese roads will be temporarily closed at “various times.” In addition, significant traffic is expected around Charlotte-Douglas International Airport from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Officials are urging travelers to seek alternative routes if possible.

The exact location of Harris’ rally has not yet been announced, but this article will be updated with that information as it becomes available.

It will be Harris’ second event in North Carolina since she was nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate.

Her first visit was to Raleigh in AugustHarris will also hold an event in Greensboro on Thursday, but specific details about the two events have not been announced.
