Man claims to have been sexually harassed by former BBC presenter Huw Edwards

Former BBC star newsreader Huw Edwards was convicted of producing indecent images of children just over two weeks ago, and now another man is claiming Edwards attacked him in a public place.

The nameless man gave an interview to The Daily Mail Newspaper in which he claims:

  • The then 27-year-old man began following Edwards on Instagram in early 2021 and soon found himself chatting to one of the most famous faces on British television.
  • On January 22, the man met Edwards – married with five children – for lunch in London’s West End, at a prestigious restaurant called The Ivy, known for its clientele from the television and entertainment industry.
  • The man went into the restrooms, where he was followed by Edwards, who allegedly attacked him at the urinals in the open area of the restroom
  • He asked Edwards to stop, but the newspaper quoted Edwards as saying, “I like the risk of getting caught.”

The newspaper reported that it had seen numerous messages allegedly exchanged between the two.

Edwards was convicted of producing indecent images of children on July 31. His former employer, the BBC, issued a statement the same day saying it was aware of Edwards’ arrest in November last year but was legally unable to continue paying him his salary until he resigns in April 2024.

They have since tried to reclaim much of Edwards’ £475,000 salary, which was funded by a broadcasting fee imposed on British viewers.
