Marion police investigate robbery at Samir’s store

According to Marion police, a supermarket in Marion was robbed Friday morning.

At about 5:45 a.m. Friday, Marion police responded to a report of a robbery at Samir’s Convenience Store No. 4, 1252 Rutherford Road in Marion, a Marion police news release said.

An unidentified white man wearing a black hoodie and gray pants entered the store and approached the clerk behind the counter, Marion police said in the news release.

The suspect told the clerk he needed all the money from the register. The clerk gave the suspect cash from the register. The suspect then exited the store through the front door and headed south, the release said.

Marion police officers arrived at the scene and began searching the area for the suspect. Video surveillance from the crime scene identified a suspect, the press release said.

“Our agency is currently working to locate this individual, however his identity is not being released at this time,” Police Chief Allen Lawrence said in the press release. “No weapons were used in this robbery.”
