MARTA temporarily closes Brookhaven station for renovations

MARTA temporarily closes Brookhaven station for renovations

From October 7 to November 15, MARTA trains will temporarily bypass Brookhaven Station for platform slab replacement.

While Gold Line service continues, trains will not stop at Brookhaven Station. To assist riders, MARTA is providing shuttle buses between Brookhaven and Lenox Station to the south and Brookhaven and Chamblee Station to the north. Local bus routes (8, 25, 47, 110) will operate as usual. Commuters who normally park at Brookhaven are asked to use the parking lots at Lenox, Chamblee or Doraville stations.

This project will involve replacing the deteriorating platform paving, installing new tiled floors, tactile warning strips, new benches and rubbish bins. In addition, the concrete will be pressure cleaned, sealed and given a graffiti-resistant coating.

Restricting access to the station during construction will reduce the project duration by nearly two years and reduce costs by $9 million. Parking and tunnel access will remain available on both sides of the station during this time.

Important details:

  • Dates: 7 October – 15 November
  • Service: Gold Line trains will skip Brookhaven Station
  • Alternatives: Shuttle buses to Lenox and Chamblee, regular bus routes not affected
  • Park: Available at Lenox, Chamblee and Doraville stations
  • Construction focus: New floors, warning strips, benches and safety improvements
