Are we getting a new Charles Xavier?

It seems like we could be getting a new Charles Professor Xavier in the MCU, at least according to an actor who played the iconic role.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Professor X is one of the most recognizable characters in all of comics, regardless of brand. In addition to his genius intellect, Professor X is an incredibly powerful telepath with the added super mutant ability of telekinesis, making him the perfect leader and mentor to the X-Men.Check out the trailer for X-Men: First Class below!

Professor X made his debut in the first issue of X-Men in 1963. However, for many fans, the first encounter with the iconic character was probably in the brilliant animated series of the 1990s. The character was then brought to life in live-action form in 2000. X-Men film, played by the infinitely charming Patrick Stewart. In addition, the first of a prequel film series was released in 2011 with X-Men: First Class in which a young Professor X was introduced,

now played by James McAvoy. As for what’s to come, we know we’ll get the X-Men in the MCU since pretty much all of the Marvel movies are owned by Disney.

At the time of writing, no new live-action X-Men film has been announced, so it’s currently unclear who will star in the production. However, it’s safe to assume that Patrick Stewart may be well into his later years by the time the film is released, at the eternally young age of 84.

So, at 45, James McAvoy would be the perfect choice to lead the new era of X-Men in the MCU, right? Well, according to the actor himself, that might not be the case.

As Comicbook.com (via BuzzFeed UK) reported, James McAvoy believes in an interview that the role of Professor X could be recast. There is a possibility that McAvoy is deliberately keeping a low profile to avoid trouble with Disney and Marvel bigwigs, but on the other hand, there could be some truth behind the rumors about Giancarlo Esposito.

Personally, I hope that James McAvoy will reprise his role, as he plays the role of

Professor X perfect.

When the new X-Men movie will be released is something nobody can say at the moment. Considering that it hasn’t even been revealed yet, it could be at least a few years away.
