Maryland Energy Administration opens application window for offshore wind training grants





The Maryland Energy Administration has launched its 10th annual open application period for two grant programs aimed at advancing Maryland’s offshore wind energy industry.

“By providing Maryland residents with training opportunities to learn the skills they need to get good-paying jobs in the renewable energy economy and promoting opportunities to obtain the materials Maryland needs to fulfill this promising energy economy “To build industry here faster and more cost-effectively, these programs advance the path toward clean energy development for Maryland,” says Paul G. Pinsky, director of the Maryland Energy Administration.

“The development of offshore wind energy makes a lot of sense for a state committed to delivering a clean energy future, and the green energy industry holds great promise for Marylanders. These programs help both of them be successful.”

The Maryland Offshore Wind Education & Workforce Program and the Maryland Offshore Wind Supply Chain Investment Program have a combined fiscal year 2025 (FY25) budget of $5 million.

The Maryland Offshore Wind Education & Workforce Program has a total FY25 funding pool of $3 million focused on:

  1. Industry Education: Non-profit organizations, governmental institutions, public institutions, or emerging businesses may apply for grants of up to $500,000 to develop or expand general, non-certification-oriented offshore wind education programs, covering up to 75% of total project costs.
  2. Workforce Training: Non-profit organizations, governmental institutions, public institutions or emerging businesses may apply for grants of up to $500,000 to develop or expand general, non-certification-oriented offshore wind training programs, covering up to 75% of the total project costs.

The Maryland Offshore Wind Supply Chain Investment Program has a total FY25 funding pool of $2 million focused on:

  1. Capital Expenditures: Non-profit organizations, government institutions, public entities or emerging companies may apply for grants of up to 50% of the total project cost, but not more than $400,000, to offset capital expenditures to enter the offshore wind industry.
  2. Industry Events: Non-profit organizations, government institutions, public institutions or emerging companies can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to participate in eligible offshore wind industry events.

The Maryland Offshore Wind Education & Workforce Program window is open through November 29th. The Maryland Offshore Wind Supply Chain Investment Program window remains open through December 15.
