Middletown’s Kyle Schwarber hits his 21st home run of the season, 12th with the Phillies

Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber hit a home run to lead off the bottom of the first inning of Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the New York Mets on Saturday.

It was the former Middletown High School standout’s 21st postseason home run, tied for fourth in MLB history.

Last October, against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Schwarber hit his 20th career postseason home run and fifth in the 2023 NLCS. He has hit the most home runs of any player in NLCS history.

Saturday’s home run was his 12th in his third postseason with the Phillies.
