More than 740,000 voted in early voting in CT – NBC Connecticut

According to the Secretary of State, more than 740,000 voters participated in early voting in Connecticut.

Early voting began Oct. 21 and continued through Sunday.

How many voted on each day of early voting?

Here’s how many people voted on each day of early voting:

  • Monday, October 21st: 58,976
  • Tuesday, October 22nd: 52,270
  • Wednesday, October 23rd: 51,060
  • Thursday, October 24th: 48,609
  • Friday, October 25th: 52,340
  • Saturday, October 26th: 26,118
  • Sunday, October 27th: 21,645
  • Monday, October 28th: 57,718
  • Tuesday, October 29th: 71,225
  • Wednesday, October 30th: 54,059
  • Thursday, October 3rd1:64,427
  • Friday, November 1st: 65,799
  • Saturday November 2nd: 51,541

There will be no early voting on Monday, November 4th.

election day

The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 5th.

Polling stations are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The polling stations are open until 8 p.m. People in line at that time will be allowed to vote.

Voters will need a copy of a current and valid photo ID showing the voter’s name and address, or a copy of a current utility bill, bank bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or government document showing the name and the address of the voter

Postal voting

If you voted by mail, your completed ballot must be received by the city clerk by Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Registration on the same day

If you have not registered to vote but would like to vote on Tuesday, you have the option to register on the same day.

Same-day registration allows people who are not already registered or are registered in one city but have moved to another city to register and vote on Election Day, according to the secretary of state’s office.

If you are not registered and would like to vote early, you can register and vote the same day at your city’s designated registration location.

On Election Day, the registration location will be different from your polling place on the same day.

According to the Secretary of State, this will be the same as the early voting location in most cities.

To qualify for same-day registration, you must:

  • Be a US citizen
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a real resident of the city you sign up in
  • If you are convicted of a crime, you must have completed pretrial detention

When ballots can be counted

Cities and towns can begin counting ballots cast during early voting when polls open at 6 a.m. Tuesday. The counting of postal ballots can begin on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
