Mother of suspected Georgia attacker called school minutes before shooting and warned of “extreme emergency”

Marcee Gray, Mother of 14-year-old defendant Colt Gray, who was accused in the Georgia shooting, had reportedly warned a school counselor about the shooting. Apalachee High School in Georgia, according to the suspect’s aunt and grandfather.
On the morning of the incident, Colt sent his mother a disturbing text message that read, “I’m sorry, Mom,” the New York Post reported. This prompted Marcee to contact the school and alert them to an “extreme emergency” regarding her son, Gray’s sister Annie Brown told the Washington Post.
Call logs, which Annie Brown was able to access through a shared phone plan, showed that Marcee Gray made a 10-minute call to the school at 9:50 a.m. on the day of the shooting. Police were notified of the incident at around 10:20 a.m.
Although Marcee confirmed the call, she would not reveal its contents and said she had already passed the information on to law enforcement.
The County Barrow School district and the Georgia The Bureau of Investigation has not yet commented on Brown’s statements.
Gray’s mother expressed her regret over the tragic incident on Saturday, saying: “I am so, so sorry and I cannot begin to imagine the pain and suffering they must be going through right now.”
Four people were killed and nine others injured in the shooting at Apalachee High School on September 4. Police were quickly on the scene and arrested 14-year-old Colt Gray.who is facing four counts of murder as an adult for allegedly using a semi-automatic AR-style rifle in the attack.
Colt’s father, Colin Gray54, is also charged with manslaughter and child abuse, which could result in a sentence of up to 180 years in prison. An arrest warrant suggests Colin gave Colin a firearm despite being aware of the potential threat. Neither father nor son requested bail or admitted anything during their hearings.
The case will be presented to a grand jury on October 17, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 4.
