New initiative from a local pizzeria to support cancer research

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – A local pizza place is launching an initiative to benefit cancer research and treatment. Jason’s Pizza has launched its campaign with customized Pizza Bib Boxes to support the Champion the Cure Challenge, which begins this Saturday in Brewer.

The challenge includes a hiking, cycling or running day, a horseback riding day and a paddling day.

There is a space on the Bib Boxes where pizza buyers can add someone they are doing the challenge for and post it on social media to encourage others to take part in the challenge.

“People love pizza and we love doing something for the community, especially the cancer event. Customers and family members of ours who have battled cancer or lost their lives to cancer mean a lot to us, so this event has a lot of meaning. I mean, we’re more than a little pizza place. You know, we’re trying to do more, whether it’s with our employees in our community, getting our customers involved to get them involved,” said Zachary Black, Jason’s Pizza Chie Experience Officer.

The Champion the Cure Challenge begins this Saturday in Brewer. Additional events are planned next month in Brewer and in October in Corinna. Click here to donate. There is also a QR code on the Bib Boxes.
