New York Giants vs. Washington Commanders odds, expert tips on how to watch: Commanders are narrow favorites

New York Giants vs. Washington Commanders odds, expert tips on how to watch: Commanders are narrow favorites

The Washington Commanders remain an enigmatic franchise, plagued by controversy and mediocrity, but with a slight edge at home against the New York Giants. The G-Men have no chance of winning if they fail to get into the end zone for the second week in a row.

The Giants are 15-6-1 against Washington over the past 11 seasons. But more important than that track record is that the Commanders need to prove they can withstand pressure from the defense. The defensive line managed just four QB hits and five pressure situations, which combined for the second-lowest total in Week 1. Washington gave up 392 total yards and allowed Baker Mayfield to complete 24 of 30 passes.

It doesn’t help that two of the Commanders’ defensive players are dealing with injuries. DT Jer’Zhan Newton was questionable to start after a foot injury kept him from his debut in Week 1, but was cleared on Sunday. But CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr. is out.

In Daniel Jones, the Giants have an expensive quarterback who is playing below average. The polarizing veteran playmaker had a passer rating of 44.3 (16.2 QBR) and threw two interceptions against the Vikings last week. He will probably have an easier time finding an open receiver against the Commanders.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll felt compelled to give his quarterback a vote of confidence, telling the media last week that Jones will remain in the starting lineup. But the stakes are high: After this game against the underachieving Commanders, Jones and the G-Men will play six straight games against teams that won last season.

Looking for a trending player for the Giants-Commanders game? Commanders QB Jayden Daniels ran for 88 yards, picked up eight first downs and scored two touchdowns with his feet. If you can’t beat them in the air, you go on the ground, right, Dan Quinn?
