New York Jets vs. Houston Texans second half thread

The first half of the New York Jets’ Week 9 game against the Houston Texans is set and the Jets trail the Texans by seven points at 7-0.

The two teams battled through a scoreless first quarter. The Texans had the best chance to score, driving the ball to the Jets’ 11-yard line before a Quinnen Williams strip sack and Will McDonald’s fumble recovery snuffed out that drive.

The quarter ended with the Jets within striking distance, advancing to the Texans’ 19-yard line.

On the first play of the second quarter, Malachi Corley scampered into the end zone on what appeared to be a touchdown run. In a play emblematic of the entire dumpster fire of a season, the rookie receiver made a monumentally stupid mistake by dropping the ball in celebration just short of the goal line. The play resulted in a touchback and a turnover. Damn jets.

After a few drives that went nowhere, the Jets managed a 75-yard punt that pinned the Texans at their own two-yard line. That presented the Jets with an opportunity. In typical Jets fashion, they wasted it. The Texans completed a 98-yard touchdown drive to take a 7-0 lead with just over three minutes left before halftime.

The Jets’ next drive went nowhere and the Texans got the ball back. They put the ball in range for a 56-yard field goal attempt, but missed.

The Jets got the ball back near midfield, but Davante Adams dropped a perfect pass from Aaron Rodgers and the Jets remained scoreless at the end of the half.

The Jets went to the locker room after being shut out in the first half. They are seven points behind the Texans at 7-0. Nothing we’ve seen in the first half or all season suggests the Jets are capable of overcoming this relatively small deficit.
