NFL Thursday Night: Trevon Diggs takes a detour in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys’ win

With 11:30 left in Thursday night’s game against the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs left the field at MetLife Stadium and went straight to the locker room.

The former Alabama star missed only one defensive tackle, however, and on New York’s next possession he intercepted a fourth-down pass to rookie star Malik Nabers with 3:21 to play, helping Dallas to a 20-15 victory over New York York.

The Giants regained possession at their 41-yard line with 28 seconds left in the game. Without Nabers, who was diagnosed with a concussion after the fourth-down play, New York quarterback Daniel Jones survived two incompletions before being intercepted by new practice squad Amani Oruwariye with five seconds left.

New York scored five goals and Dallas scored four goals. But the Giants’ scores were all Greg Joseph field goals. In addition to 40- and 60-yard field goals from Brandon Aubrey, the Cowboys had two touchdown passes from quarterback Dak Prescott, including a 55-yarder to wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Lamb had seven receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown. Nabers had 12 receptions for 115 yards.

Diggs also made two tackles in the game. He left the game due to cramps and was given a quick IV before returning to the field. Diggs lost an interception due to an offside penalty against Dallas.
