NLE Choppa explains decision to perform at Black Pride event in Atlanta | News

NLE Choppa shared his reasons for appearing at the Black Pride event in Atlanta last weekend.

On Sunday (September 1), the “SLUT ME OUT” hitmaker took the stage at The Bank in Atlanta, a key venue during the city’s Black Pride Weekend, which ran from Tuesday (August 27) to Monday (September 2). During his performance, he spoke to the crowd and explained his motivation for participating in the LGBTQ+ celebration.

In a video circulating online, NLE can be heard defending his decision to participate and emphasizing his belief in equality despite differences. “A lot of motherfuckers ask me, ‘Man, you’re a rapper, what are you doing in a club like that?’ And I say, ‘Fuck those ni**as.’ You wanna know why?” he told the crowd. “I’m not going to lie, man, every day we wake up and every day we fight against acceptance. Whether it’s the color of our skin, whether it’s the weight, whether it’s the sexuality.”

He continued, “And listen, at the end of the day, I believe in one thing,” he continued. “I feel like everyone is the same, no matter how they drink their water, how they eat, how they piss, shit or fucking sleep, you hear me?”

NLE also assured the crowd that he was serious about being there. “I just want to let you guys know that I’m not here for any gimmicks,” he added. “I’m not here for extra numbers. I’m not here for extra views, because I already have them if we stay at 100. I’m really here to make a difference and show y’all it’s love, bro. We’re black no matter what.”

In April, the Memphis rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank the LGBTQ+ community for their support of “Slut Me Out 2.” He wrote, “I notice the LGBTQ community showing so much love for ‘Slut Me Out 2’ and I just want to say thank you. I don’t care what’s normal as a rapper, I was raised to fuck with whoever fucks with you! So thank you all for appreciating my craft. My music is for EVERYONE, NO discrimination.”

After an X user accused NLE Choppa of being gay, he responded sharply in a follow-up tweet. “I’m gay because I show love?” he replied to the X user. “Y’all lost that’s why we kill each other everyday because y’all can’t show love and all the time y’all are the ones acting like that but hiding it! I say thank you I’m not comfortable with my sexuality Busta.”
