No, the Disney Store has not removed its “The Acolyte” merch

When The Acolyte was canceled earlier this week, fans feared that the Star Wars series would suffer the same fate. Those fears were heightened when a fan searched for “Acolyte” on the official Disney online store and returned no results, suggesting that the merchandise was discontinued in an effort to erase the project from the Star Wars landscape.

Fortunately, this is not the case. The Acolyte is safe, at least for now. Here’s what happened and what’s really true.

The Acolytes The cancellation of the series was announced publicly on Monday, August 19, but it wasn’t until two days later that social media posts began circulating showing that a search for “Acolyte” on the Disney Store returned no results. This is not unusual – a search for “Andor” also remains fruitless. Adding fuel to the fire, however, when fans click on a link to a specific Acolyte product, it resulted in a 404 error.

At first glance, it looked like a campaign to erase all memories of the series, but the removal of the merchandise actually took place before the show was canceled. The Wayback Machine reveals that Acolyte Merch stopped appearing in Disney Store searches sometime between July 29 and August 6, weeks before The Acolyte was officially cancelled. In addition The Acolyte Merchandise that was not exclusive to the Disney Store – such as Qimir’s mask – has always been available in the official Star Wars Store.

Disney has not responded to Inverse Please comment, the situation has now been resolved, as the Disney Store is currently removing all previously Acolyte Apparel where available. All four products are now in stock and available to purchase, meaning the hiccup from a few weeks ago was just a glitch or delivery issue. This does not confirm The Acolyte is here to stay forever, it proves that the series is not forgotten yet. Unlike the previous shows that were deleted from Disney+, The Acolyte is part of a huge franchise. Removing it would delete an important chapter from a huge story and leave fans confused and frustrated.

Currently, The Acolyte is here to stay as a Disney+ series, as source material for future projects and, like all good Star Wars stories, as inspiration for merchandise that’s available now. We may not get a second season, but we’ll always have the memories… and the merchandise.
