NYT “Connections” September 12: Answers and clues to game #459

A new day means a new Connections puzzles, but if you are having trouble finding the answers, Newsweek is here to help.

Connections is a play on words that, after its introduction by The New York Times in 2023. The puzzle is based on the success of Wordlewhich the newspaper acquired in January 2022.

The answers for Thursday Connections The details of the game are shown at the bottom of the page, so scroll carefully if you want to find them out yourself.

How to play connections

The rules of the game are simple: players are given a set of 16 words and must divide these words into four groups of four words each and classify them into categories based on common characteristics.

For example, one of the categories in Wednesday’s puzzle was “Large sum of money” and the words associated with that category were “bundle,” “wealth,” “coin,” and “stack.”

In the past, categories have ranged from units of length to Joaquin Phoenix films and more.

Each category is associated with a color – yellow is considered the easiest, followed by green, then blue and then purple.

To begin, players must select four words they think are related and click submit. If the selection is correct, they light up in the difficulty color and are removed from the board. If it is incorrect, they turn gray and remain on the board. Players have four guesses before the answers are revealed, but there is no time limit to solve the puzzle.

If you get stuck, you can always click the Map button to get a new perspective.
