Packers vs. Colts, discussion thread for the first half of the second week

Packers vs. Colts, discussion thread for the first half of the second week

The news that Green Bay Packers fans have been waiting for all week is now final: Jordan Love will not play in today’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Love will be replaced by substitute Malik Willis, who will try to lead the 0-1 Packers to their first win of the season.

Willis has a 1-2 record in his career as a starter, with all three of those starts coming in his rookie year in 2022. He is also looking for his first NFL touchdown pass and his first 100-yard passing game, but if he relies on his receivers to make plays after the catch, he should have a very good chance of accomplishing that.

Finally, the Packers’ young receiver corps excels at making plays after the catch point, a quality that Jayden Reed in particular has in abundance. Reed had over 100 yards receiving in week one, thanks in part to a great 70-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown, and he also scored a 33-yard rushing touchdown. He’s active after suffering an injury in practice this week, and he could be another key focus this week as the team looks to get Willis accustomed to short throws.

The Packers defense will have to contend with second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor, the stars of the Colts offense. Can Jeff Hafley keep the big-play quarterback in check? Tune in to find out, and join us in the comments to discuss the first half.
