Pastrnak scores in OT, Bruins defeat Kings

Trevor Moore scored a goal and Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves for the Kings, who were playing the second part of a seven-game season-opening road trip (1-0-1).

“You give (the Bruins) time and they’ll be able to make a play. I think that’s the biggest thing,” Los Angeles defenseman Kyle Burroughs said. “We understood each other very well, applied a lot of pressure and, where possible, received approval. When we needed a save, (Kümper) was there, and he was probably our best player in the first two games.”

Each team finished 0-5 on the power play.

“Pastrnak in particular has been one of the top scorers year in and year out, so he needs to be given special attention,” Kings coach Jim Hiller said. “I played against them a lot and that was just as good as being on the bench where we killed against Boston (in the shootout).”

Moore gave Los Angeles a 1-0 lead at 5:22 of the second period, three seconds after his man advantage expired. With Swayman trapped under Boston defender Hampus Lindholm, Alex Turcotte missed a centering pass, but it fell to Moore, who found the open net.

Lindholm tied the game at 16:50 at 16:50 when he unleashed a one-timer off Brad Marchand’s rebound from the left side that bounced wide to Lindholm on the right side.

“Really smart shot from (Marchand), firing it from long court to get the rebound when his shot doesn’t go in,” Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said.
