Paving work will affect pickup at Honolulu Airport starting Monday

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation advises all pickups of arriving passengers at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport that the interior road in front of Terminal 2 between baggage claims 16 and 29 will be closed nightly from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. from August 19 to 27 for repaving work.

During the closure, all passengers receiving curbside pickup between baggage claim locations 16 and 31 after 9:30 p.m. will be diverted to the Diamond Head Group Tour Area. Arriving international passengers will be directed to the International Group Tour Area for pickup.

The outer carriageway will remain open for through traffic. Vehicles will be diverted from the inner carriageway to the outer carriageway via a central reservation from the pick-up area for international arrivals.

Signs will be posted to alert motorists of the lane closure and direct them to passenger pick-up areas. Signs will also be posted throughout the baggage claim area directing passengers to the Diamond Head Group Tour area.

The repaving work, which was originally scheduled to begin on July 29, was halted on August 1 when workers discovered a hole in the road’s substructure caused by a broken pipe that needed to be repaired first.
