Pilot Precision Products is demonstrating its motorized mini slotter on a Tsugami M08 Y-axis turning center. The slotter is available for purchase for use on Tsugami Swiss Racks.

Available in 15mm and 25mm strokes, the machine can make CNC broaching on small turret lathes and Swiss-type lathes more efficient, with the ability to machine internal and external keyways and splines in what it claims is reduced cycle times. The motorized mini broaching cutter also consolidates operations in one machine and can therefore eliminate the need for secondary broaching operations, the company says. Applications include automotive, firearms, power transmission components, marine and defense.

According to Pilot, the important features and benefits of the motorized mini slotter are:

  • A six-sided ram design for maximum torsional rigidity for optimized surface finish and tool life
  • Ability to form hexagonal or square holes that extend beyond the limits of rotary broaching
  • Easy maintenance through lubrication
  • Easy conversion (maintenance recommended after 1,000 clearing cycle hours)
  • Repair kits are available for bearings and seals, which you can send back for maintenance at low cost.
